Artifact: Reflection on My Vision of an Exemplary Educator, EDCI564
In 2014, I joined the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Association of Talent Development. It has been a nice experience volunteering for some of the events and I look forward to participating more in the future. My volunteer level has been working at the registration table for the seminars and programs they arrange and this has been a good opportunity to meet other members. My goal is to continue volunteering and participating when possible.
Another aspect of participation within the field of educational technology is via the practicum. The practicum is a valuable experience that will allow me utilize the skills that I have learned in this program and work with stakeholders with high expectations. Once I complete this program, my goal is to actively seek opportunities that allow me to participate in this field more. In the meantime, I will continue to follow blogs and groups on Twitter and LinkedIn. These venues provide interesting discussions and is a great way to learn about the latest trends in this field. I will also continue to follow the Purdue group on Facebook. This group has been invaluable in sharing experiences along with having a place to share and learn more about each other, instructional design opportunities and the field in general.
In the linked artifact, I discuss my vision of an exemplary technology educator. When I review my vision after going through this program, I see that it is void of the concept of active participation. I would now add active participation to my vision because this is valuable in remaining current with the latest techniques and technologies. Participating and networking in this profession is the best way to stay connected or to develop that connection. While going through this program, it's not easy to do both but this is something I will pursue with purpose.
